Magnesium Photoengraving Plate Etching Process

When starting the etching process of magnesium photoengraving plate, in order to ensure good slope, we shall to make some adjustment as following:

(1) Speed:

When making letterpress, the speed of the etching machine blade shall be 420-430rpm;

When making a gravure, the speed of the etching machine blade shall be 370-380rpm;

(2) Etching temperature:

When making a letterpress, the temperature of the etching solution is 33-34 ° C when put on the plate; when take it out, the temperature of the etching solution is 38-39 ° C;

When making a gravure, the temperature of the etching solution is 35-36 ° C when it is on the plate; when take it out, the temperature of the etching solution is 38-39 ° C;

(3) Etching time:

Using new prepared etching solution, when the etching time is 5 minutes, the etching depth of the magnesium alloy plate is 0.7-0.8mm;

When using non-newly prepared etching solution, the etching time of the next magnesium alloy plate is gradually extended according to the etching depth of the previous magnesium alloy plate. When the etching depth is reduced by 0.1mm, the etching time is extended by 30-40s;

(4) acid supplement:

After completing the etching of a magnesium alloy plate, acid supplementation is required, and the acid supplementation method includes: 65-75 ml of nitric acid supplementation for each 10 g of etched magnesium alloy weight .
